More About Me
Hi! My name is Maseeha Seedat, a university student with a secret: I have a double life! By day, I'm stuck under a pile of textbooks working towards my next deadline. But by...earlier in the day (yes, I'm an early bird, I have to hide from the full moon XD) I'm an author submerged in a million worlds, battling monsters and chasing after magical mysteries.
Storytelling has always been a part of my life, ever since I mauled the cardboard chicken in my first toddler book. My grandparents told stories. My parents told stories. So I thought I'd give it a try. My tales were far-fetched and crudely illustrated, but they were mine. That was what mattered. I completed my first novel in 2020, a YA epic fantasy revolving around the rivalry of twin sisters Heela and Flo, part of my first WIP series. It wasn't long before I realised the plot lines were all tangled and every character was a mess, even my hijabi protagonist. So for now, this series is currently on hiatus while I try and figure out university life, but next on the to-do list in this universe is the sequel and a short story collection. While working on this series, I started setting up my social media presence. Such a simple motive that changed my life forever. In 2021, I discovered Twenty Hills Publishing and went on to make my publishing debut and continue working with the house for four anthologies over the course of a year (paperback and hardback) as an author and editor! These experiences taught me so much and gave me the guts to write the screenplay for Maskerade Mystery, a murder mystery that had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 (sadly, no one died). I finally published my first novel in 2023: The Littlest Voices! So a little more about me. I was born and raised in Johannesburg before moving to Dubai in 2011, and I now live in the UK for university. I'm an INFJ through and through and a huge advocate for diversity. Most of my time is dedicated to my studies. Besides that, I'm hunched behind my laptop scrawling make-believe across the scene, exploring my new city, or binging Avatar: The Last Airbender (again) |
